Equines need to have their hooves trimmed every 6-12 weeks, for animals with difficulties, this can be needed more frequently. Some donkeys come to us with very overgrown, uncared for feet, we will normally organise a trim every 2-4 weeks until the feet find reasonable balance and then it can take 1-2 years for the hoof capsule to grow out all of the distortion. Long term soundness will depend on how much joint damage has been inflicted by the unbalanced hooves.
